Everyone has a dream. Even as you’re reading this and your mind goes no, I don’t have one, you still do. You are just too afraid to admit having one. Now, here lies the difference: everyone has dreams, but not everyone dares to realize them.
Our minds are powerful. The things we do, and by extent, the things we don’t do, stem from the mind. We all have those sudden urges, for example, to get out of the house and travel alone. Or to channel our creativity through art. Or just to simply dress up differently than we usually do. But, let’s think back for a moment and ask ourselves, how often do we follow through with those thoughts? How many times our self-esteem falters at the sly whispers like nobody wants to read my thing anyway, or I won’t be able to pull that sunglasses off? Who whispers those things anyway? Chances are, most of those limitations come from our very own minds.
This is not meant to be a bleak piece. To say that most of our limitations come from the mind is also to say that we can break them. After all, it’s ourselves we’re dealing with. One might say that breaking our limits is the key to our authentic selves. Almost 8 billion people are living in this world, but there is only one of you. What you’re going through right now, the things you have created, are creating, and will create, can only be done by you. Failing to show up as your unique and true self would be such a pity.
A sturdy house isn’t built on sand. It’s built on a strong foundation. Creating something authentic is only possible by those who continuously seek their authentic self. The trick we can offer to ourselves is this: tune out the noise of our inner critics and tune in to the greater voice of bravery and self-respect. Soon, you will find that there are no limits to what you’re capable of.
